Disney of Yesterday

What it is

Disney has continued to make improvements to their whole ecosystem. Improving rides and creating worlds that are unique and detailed. The question is where have they gone wrong?

Why it has

First, Disney’s food quality has dived. Their focus is entirely around fast-food even in the main dining room. Pre-COVID the food was already starting to fall short and now with COVID the food really feels like they stop trying. Why has the food quality gone horribly down, while the prices only continue to increase?

One thing I always loved was the Pot Roast from 50’s Prime Time Café in Hollywood Studios. Sadly, even though it looks the same, it most certainly did not taste the same. It tasted like it was sitting there for quite some time and the flavor it had was lost in the dryness.

How it was

Second, Disney continues to ignore one of the biggest problems, the crowd level, and wait times. Basic rides are pushing almost 2 hour wait time without a FastPass. Where and how can this be fixed? One option is to have everything scheduled ahead of time, booking FastPasses, Dinner, and Parks all before you arrive. Another option would be to change FastPass back to first come first serve, got to be there to get the pass.

I believe one thing that has gotten out of hand is how much pre-booking you have to do to even go on vacation at Disney. You can’t just go to Disney and expect to get on or into anything. If you don’t book your dining, FastPasses, and (COVID) parks, you won’t be able to enter.

COVID hasn’t helped the situation with no theater or actors to help break up the crowd. Disney not having any shows or plays in any of the parks, no fireworks (they are testing), and all the “spacing” they are trying to accomplish with ride lines has gotten out of hand. For example, the line for Haunted Mansion was all the way down the bridge near Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. The fact stands, line spacing isn’t needed, but fewer people are.

Where it goes

Third, Disney has become what do people want instead of what brings joy, happiness, and excitement to people. They bought brands like Avatar, Star Wars, and Marvel, which I feel like it was to avoid creating something new. I love the new area’s and what they’ve done, but a lot of it feels a little lacking. Maybe it’s everyone rushing around or maybe it’s that I’m older; I’m not quite sure. I would love to see something fresh and new.

In Summary, I hope to see Disney step up their imagination, creativity, and food quality. The ability to forget all the worries in the world, to enjoy the time you have, and be able to relax.

It’s kind of fun to do the impossible.
